End of week three..............

I wrote two lengthy posts yesterday, but both were eaten, or sent to the moon, or whatever Blogger does when it goes berzerk. Very disheartening. No doubt they were witty, and erudite, but we'll never know, will we?

Below is the best photo I am able to take at the moment, of Sarah's Revival. I am currently working on the bottom left block. If you feel like giving me any input as to whether you think any of the blocks need reworking because of fabric selection, I'd be interested to hear from you. I have doubts about the block five rows down, and second in.  It reads the lightest of the lot, and I keep wondering if I need to redo. Thoughts?

Next Friday I fly to the Portland, OR area to see my new grandbaby, Miss Lily Beatrice. I can't wait! I would love to finish the block I'm on before leaving, and just have the four center to go, but we'll see.

On the diet front.................it has been a challenging week. I lost less than a pound in week two. This was a blow, and nearly sent me into an eating binge simply to spite myself. I got through Monday w/o any dreadful lapses, thank goodness, and by Tuesday I had talked myself off the ledge. I know I feel better, and I'm sleeping better. I still have not had any alcohol or white carbs.....not one cracker, sliver of bread (or cheese), or potato. Folks, it is kinda tough to make food exciting w/o butter or any sauces. Also, you have to THINK about it so hard it makes me grumpy. BUT: on two separate days this week I turned over a mile on my treadmill. For this old gal that is huge, because I have never ever done that before. If I can just concentrate on doing the things that will improve my health, and can do them long enough, I believe I will eventually get where I'm trying to go. Staying motivated is the thing. I must tell you that seeing that counter turn over a mile was a real help to my self esteem. It felt great. By the way, Crystal Lite Cherry-Pomegranite flavor is the "bomb"!

Also, if you miss Downton Abbey, and belong to Netflix, I highly recommend you try the series called "Larkrise to Candleford". It is delightful in every way, and we were sad when we'd watched our  way through it.  Cheers, Michele

  1. The block is just fine. When one is doing a scrappy quilt most are just fine. If one wanted each one just so...just pick the one you like best and do them all the same - sort of boring eh. Now those four center just call to me to blow up the pattern you like best and stick it in the middle with some "space" around it to give the other breathing room and the eye a place to center and rest.

  2. I think your Sarah's Revival is looking awesome. I like all the different shades. I would leave it for now until you get the center done. You are so far ahead of me. I'm making it, too, but am only on my 9th block. You are inspiring me!

  3. Just love the cheddar backgrounds--really changes the look of the blocks that are being done with light backgrounds and red appliques. I think that the light one reads well with the others--gives it a interesting punch to the others. You also have sort of a line of lighter blocks coming down from the upper corner through where this block is placed. Gives it a fun little angle you have to look for, when looking at the whole quilt. IMHO of course.

  4. Love the blocks - you are speeding through them! Don't think the slightly lighter ones are obnoxious in any way at all, they give a lovely sparkle.

Well done on your diet, and for managing to turn a setback into a step forward. Keep it up and you will be so proud of yourself! They say it takes 12 weeks to instil a habit...

  20. Many of the older properties in London and even some of the newer ones are prone to drainage problems. With everything from root growing into pipes, your own home waste blocking the pipe, to leaves and gravel being washed into the storm drains, there are a million and one things that can cause pipes inside and outside your home to be blocked.

  25. Give Your Job Search A Restart
Job searching is not a simple process. It includes lot of stress and tension. During the job search process, people usually make several mistakes that in return reduces the chances of getting the required job, and repetitive failures in spite of countless efforts also has a great impact on the confidence of an individual. In order to get the right job, you need to overcome the issues that most likely create hurdles between you and your career. Some of the problems are discussed below along with the possible solutions that will help you in drafting a strategy for your job search in a better way. This will ultimately lead you to the best job.
The first problem is that job seekers spend only thirty minutes every day in job search, which is wrong. No matter if you have a job or out of a job, searching for the right job takes the maximum amount of time. According to research in the United States, people looking for a job only spend 30 minutes per day on average. This study shows that this amount of time will not leadto outstanding results. To get the best job, it is important to spend more time on searching than on TV. If you feel that you do not have ample time for this task, then it means you are not actually considering it seriously.
The next problem that is commonly found with job seekerswhile searching for a job,is the inability to judge their present skills and traits. They start questioning their skills and in most cases do not consider themselves fit enough for the job. In some cases, this phenomenon is fine. However, in most cases, this leads to lack of confidence in oneself. Building confidence is very important in the job search as the basic requirements of an employee for any job is the passion to work and self-confidence. Believing in oneself is essential before making others believe the same.
The third problem is related to interviews. In most cases, it is a very common issue that the candidates have not been called for the interview. For this problem, there is no single answer as to why the candidate is not getting to the interview. The answer could be the presentation, the wrong resume, style of talking or any other thing. So make sure you present yourself well with the proper and concise resume along with other requirements.
The fourth problem that usually occurs with most of job searchers is the phone interview bears no result. In such a case, an email is received by the potential candidate regarding the phone interview. That makes the candidate feel goo,d and it occurs with most of the applicants. Soon after the phone interview, there is often no reply back. It is because the employer is not satisfied with the responses you made on the call. Try to inspire them with grace and confidence.
The last problem to be discussed in a job search,is that candidates think that the process of hiring is unfair. However, in actuality it is not. The employer is looking for “some qualities” in an employee that might or might not be present in you. So, never make the employer feel that you have been rejected by other interviewers . Present yourself as a clear slate and try your best.
